Reinvestment at the Alexandra Hospital and a new Aldi foodstore

Bromsgrove based Hinton Group, in collaboration with The Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (The Trust), is bringing forward proposals for a new Aldi food store at land between Quinneys Lane and Woodrow Drive in Redditch, known as Plot 3.

The proposed 0.7 hectare site comprises the sloped grassed land at the entrance to The Alexandra Hospital estate and is not currently used for any healthcare or ancillary services and is not part of The Trust’s future plans. The site at Plot 3 has therefore been identified as surplus to healthcare requirements by The Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

In accordance with the NHS property disposal policy, all the proceeds from the sale of this surplus site will be reinvested by the Trust in future developments at The Alexandra Hospital Site. The Trust is currently developing a number of plans to expand and improve services at The Alexandra Hospital Site.

We will also work in partnership with The Trust to make sure that there is no loss of parking spaces for patients, visitors or staff. We will make sure that replacement parking spaces are available before any current parking space is lost as a result of the development.

The disposal of the Plot 3 site will therefore directly fund health-related improvements in Redditch, providing significant public benefit to the healthcare system and the associated food store proposals will deliver increased competition and food shopping choice for local residents and NHS staff based at The Alex.
